A writ petition had been filed by Mr. R. Velu ,(EX Minister of State For Railways) in W.P. No. 15672/2011
The writ petition was filed seeking to issue the writ of declaration, that the Code of Regulation for Mat. Schools in Tamilnadu is illegal and invalid and consequently cancel the Recognition granted to the Matriculation Schools except the Matriculation Schools enjoying recognition of Madras and Madurai Universities as on 1976. The said matter came up for hearing on 24/7/2012 in the first bench. The Writ Pettition was dismissed by Honourable Chief Justice Mr. M.Y. Eqbal and Honourable T.S. Sivaganam since neither the petitioner nor his counsel appeared before the court to contest the matter. The writ petition was dismissed for non prosecution

Should Educational Institutions pay ESI contribution?

After the issue of the GO ( GO ms No. 237) regarding extension of ESI scheme to Educational Institutions,
Several schools and colleges immediately paid their contributions for their employees.
Arround six cases were filed in the Hon. High Court of Madras by
1. Maharaja College of Arts and Science - Coimbatore.
2. Association of Management of - Coimbatore Anna University affiliated colleges.
3. Tamil Nadu Nursery Primary Matric Hr. Secondary Schools Managements Association - represented by
D. Christdass.
4. Federation of Association of Private Schools in Tamilnadu - represented by Mrs. R. Visalakshi.
5. RVS college of Arts and Science - Coimbatore.
6. Tamilnadu Self financing college of Education Management Association - Chennai.
Justice K. CHANDRU gave his verdict on 14/03/2011 dismissing all the writ petitions. Subsequently in the
Hon. High Court of Delhi, a Judgement was passed on 15th November 2011, in a similar case “ saying that
the above said ESI Act Is not applicable to the respondent's organization as it is not a shop but an Educational
Institution”. Previously the ESI Court gave its verdict in the same case that ESI is not applicable to the
Educational Institutions.
All India Private Schools Association arranged to file writ petitions for Joshua Matriculation School, Old
Perungulathore, Chennai 63 and MR Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Ner Kundram Road, Mattu
kuppam, Chennai 107 and got interim stay.

We got orders from Hon. Supreme Court regarding G.O. 24 ( the land specified in G.O. 48, should be in one
